Dear Colleagues –
On March 4, the President released his FY 2015 federal budget, which requests $1.125 billion for career and technical education. Of this amount, $1.17 billion would be dedicated to state grants, with up to $100 million reserved for a competitive CTE innovation fund, including $10 million for “Pay for Success” projects. The budget document is available on the Department’s Web site at www.ed.gov.
On February 26, 2014, our office released a memo to state CTE directors with estimated FY 2014 State Allocations under Perkins IV. As part of the memo, our office extended the deadline for states to submit their budget for program year eight to April 30, 2014. The remaining items for program year eight are due on March 21 per Assistant Secretary Dann-Messier’s December 9, 2013, memo.
Finally, I wanted to thank the Association for Career and Technical Education (ACTE) for its leadership in spearheading this year’s “CTE Month.” I hope you will agree that it was wonderful to see, hear, and take part in all of the tweets, blogs, articles, Student Voices sessions, and other ways to formally celebrate the success of our nation’s CTE educators, students, business leaders, parents, and other key stakeholders!
Best –
